Tree Chainsaw Carving

On Saturday 10th October 2026 we had the very first of our carvings delivered and installed.

This carving is the first of seven carvings that will be installed to mark different areas of green space on the Broomwood estate. These carvings will also have plaques installed alongside them displaying a QR code and map linking them all, as well as key information for the area they are placed.

We hope these carvings will inspire more residents to walk/ride around the estate to visit them and enjoy the open spaces in our community.

Today’s Carving is a FOX, and is situated on the Wetlands. We chose a fox as we have lots of foxes in the area and many of them use the Wetlands to live, hunt and socialise with other foxes, for some it’s just a cut through but it seemed the area would be an ideal place for such a great addition.

The carving was created by Mike Burgess who is local and used to play at Kersal Rugby Club in Timperley and now is an award winning chainsaw artist.

Mike has been commissioned to create these carvings and will carve all seven pieces.

The carving was relived by Mike then installed by Paul, Gary, Laura, Julian and Shaun.

We hope you enjoy seeing the work involved and then taking a walk to go find this little guy to say hi!
